Vivo XPlay 5: 6GB RAM Phablet

Vivo is packing in 6GB RAM in a smartphone
Vivo is one of the most adventurous Chinese OEMs we’ve seen in the recent past. The company was one of the first to offer a 2K display on smartphones over two years ago, which has now become an industry standard. Well it seems like the company has run out of innovations and has decided to bring a new headliner feature on board. Vivo has posted a teaser for its upcoming XPlay 5 handset, indicating that it will come with 6GB of RAM on board.

This will undoubtedly be the first handset to have this honor, leaving behind newly released 4GB RAM offerings such as the Xiaomi Mi 5, the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge as well as the LG G5.

Vivo has also announced that the XPlay 5 will come with Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset on board, so clearly, the handset will be a powerhouse as far as performance is concerned. The company has also claimed that it will have a curved display, reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy S6/S7 edge models.

Further, a rumor has talked about the device packing solar charging, which could be an interesting feature. However, the company hasn’t confirmed this as of yet, so we’re taking this with a grain of salt for the time being. Vivo is a very ambitious manufacturer and has a decent presence in India as well. We can only imagine the kind of impact this phone would have when and if it hits the Indian shores.

Vivo XPlay 5 rumored hardware specs include:

6-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) display
Quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor
16MP rear camera
8MP front camera
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
4,300mAh battery
4G LTE with dual SIM
